Community Involvement Spotlight: Michael J. Sowinski, II and the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center

For today’s Community Involvement Spotlight, we’d like to highlight Attorney Michael J. Sowinski, II and the work of the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center.

Mike currently serves as the Board President of the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center located in Wilkes-Barre. The center is committed to the protection of all children who have become victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. It strives to create a child-friendly, safe environment to conduct joint interviews and investigations, along with a comfortable setting for medical examinations and a base of staff support. The goal of the center was to consolidate these services under one roof so a child isn’t re-victimized via multiple interviews and examinations. Their facility works closely with law enforcement, Children & Youth, and the District Attorney’s Office to provide these services to any child who is suspected to be the victim of abuse.
