Jim Valentine Begins Three-Year Term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors

Jim Valentine began a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors at the conclusion of the association’s Annual Meeting, May 17, in Lancaster.

One of 12 zone governors who serve on the PBA board, Jim will represent Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.

Since 2009, Jim has been a member of the PBA House of Delegates, the association’s policymaking body. The PBA’s Board of Governors is the body that manages and carries out PBA policies as they are established by the House of Delegates.

Jim is a past chair of the PBA Labor and Employment Law Section, and for over 20 years he has served on the section’s council.

Jim has previously served as a member of the Wilkes-Barre Law and Library Association’s (Luzerne County Bar Association) Executive Committee.

2019 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers

We are proud of Attorneys Robert D. Schaub and Richard A. Russo who have been honored as 2019 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers.

Atty. Schaub was selected as a Super Lawyer in the field of Business Litigation. This is the seventh consecutive year Atty. Schaub has been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.

Two partners re-appointed to the Council of Business Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Lee S. Piatt and Paul T. Rushton, partners in our Firm’s Business & Finance Department, were recently re-appointed as members of the Council of the Business Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

The province of the Business Law Section is the development and practical working of the law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and of the United States, relating to business and nonprofit corporations, partnerships and associations, to banks and banking, and to the law relating to mercantile and commercial transactions, including the fields of bankruptcy, insolvency and receiverships and of business regulation law.

The Council is the governing body of the Section. Lee and Paul have previously served as members of the Council and are active in the Section’s Closely-held Business Committee (chaired by Paul), as members of the Title 15 Committee, and as contributors to the Section’s newsletter.

Steven P. Roth, Esquire Named New Managing Partner

Ufberg Appointed to State Board

A prominent Wilkes-Barre attorney now sits on a state commission that reviews regulations to make sure they are consistent with the laws that led to them.

Murray Ufberg was named last month by Gov. Tom Wolf to a seat on the Independent Regulatory Review Commission. The commission has been in existence since the 1980s and is composed of five gubernatorial and legislative appointees.
